a little bit of nothing

Probably not the smartest idea to title a blog post with that title.

Ummm, yeah, here I am and I have nothing at all to say.

OK, that's not entirely true.  Maybe I should have said "a little bit of something."

Let's just get on with it...

Playing

I discovered PicMonkey tonight.  Very fun little photo editing site--super easy to navigate and tons of options for editing.  Here's one that I created:

And here's the before, SOOC shot:

Creating

The boys went back to school today and that left me with a bit of creative time, so I worked on a mini album using the May Elite kit.

Here's a little Instagram sneak:

Hoping to have more sneaks up later in the week.

Shopping

I went to my favorite store,

over the weekend (alone!) and treated myself to a new latte mug:
Buy

Drinking a latte out of a beautiful mug makes mornings (even rainy Monday ones) happy and sunshiny.

So see, I did have a little bit of something to say.  Now you can play around with PicMonkey, be on the lookout for some new projects, and buy yourself a pretty mug.

Aren't you glad you stopped by for a visit?!

at the beach

We're not at the beach this week, but gosh with the gorgeous weather here we very well could be.

Just stopping in during this crazy and fun-filled school vacation week to do a quick post of a couple of layouts I managed to scrape together the past two mornings.

Mixing a bit of old (Colorbok papers)
with a bit of new (washi tape and baker's twine)

This fun one was inspired by Vero's April challenge over at Scrapbook Heaven

Did a little pull-out photo on this one.  How cool is that sand castle?!

That's all for now!

Marshmallow Fondant meets Hockey Sticks

The boys are wrapping up their hockey seasons and are having parties to celebrate their hard work.

So I tried something I had never done before: fondant.
I found this super easy recipe for marshmallow fondant (there's even a video there) and it worked perfectly.  Not the best tasting thing in the world, but the kids ate them all up!

Just three little ingredients (mini-marshmallows, water, powdered sugar) and about 10 minutes and you have this super fun, pliable, moldable, smooth dough.

  1. Use a letter L cookie cutter to cut the rolled fondant, then just shape it into more of a hockey stick shape.
  2. Dunk into some melted semi-sweet morsels and plop on an M&M.
  3. Put some melted chocolate into a sandwich baggie, snip of a tiny corner, and drizzle some chocolate "tape" onto the handle.
These could not have been any easier to make.
I'll be whipping up another batch next week for the final party.

I'm a Girly Girl

I think most of you know that I have been blessed with three boys.  I love having boys, can't imagine my life without them.  I'm not even sure at this point I would know what to do with a girl--she would surely be a tom-boy and would never have a date with three big brothers to "protect" her.

But I am a girly girl...always have been.  I did gymnastics instead of softball.  Chose nail polish over mud pies.  Wore dresses more often than pants.  Prefer pink to red.  My husband will tell you I throw like a girl, and the boys much prefer daddy's pitches to mine.

Coupon Organizer

I've had a little one home sick with the stomach bug this week, so last night was my first time escaping leaving my house to buy some much needed Easter supplies.  In my haste to run out the door without turning back I left two coupons behind.  These coupons would have saved me $25!  That's a pretty big chunk of change, right?

Well, I will not be left coupon-less at the checkout again, gosh darn it!  And since I am too vain to carry around the cheesy plastic accordion file that previously held our coupons (which completely explains why I left my coupons home last night), I needed to come up with a better solution.

Here is my new and quite fashionable, I might add, coupon folio:

I had picked up this Mead refillable planner on clearance at Target simply because I loved the color (and because I am a huge sucker for that red clearance sticker!)

I wasn't really sure what I would use it for...until last night.
It was a cinch to put together during a phone call with my sister (multi-tasking at its finest!)

1) trim the flaps off some old envelopes
2) reinforce the bottom with some pretty patterned paper
3) punch holes
4) punch out tabs, write categories, and adhere to each envelope

I am not a huge coupon-er, so I organize mine by store/theme:  Groceries, Clothing, Home, Restaurants, Crafts, Entertaining (like movies, mini-golf, roller skating), Target, and a Miscellaneous catch-all one.

This holder even has pockets and business card organizers that are perfect for all those loyalty cards.  And I think I'll stuff receipts into that zippered pocket.

Tuck in a pad of paper and a pen for list making and it's finished.

I can almost hear all the money I'll be able to spend on crafts saving!

a few more kit projects

I just can't stop playing around with this month's kits.

Here are a few more projects I made with the Elite:

A photo-less page.  I pulled these words from my "About Me" page here on my blog.  Thinking about posting some "me" layouts on this page instead of words.

This was created using Vero's Progressive Crop challenge.  So fun to work on this page a bit at a time and not really have an idea of how it would all turn out.

Thanks of for looking!

a quick share

I am having trouble posting photos on Blogger/Picasa Web Albums today.

But I'm hoping that I can get this post to work because it is too fantastic not to share.

Just saw Anna Maria Wolniak's pin of the latest issue of ILS's online magazine.

{not my photo so please pin from the original source linked above}

I am in love with every single layout in there.
It doesn't even matter that I can't read more than 5 words of the whole thing.
These are some super talented girls!

And Anna Maria was awesome to share the link to the first issue of the e-zine so now I don't feel like I've missed out on anything.
