granny blanket : 2 more squares

I am going to make this short because it is too nice of a day out to be sitting inside at my computer.

WEEK THIRTY || Bavarian Square
by Little Wendy Crochet

WEEK THIRTY ONE || Daisy Center Mandala
I am in love with this square and am so happy I chose to include it in my blanket.  The pattern is actually two different patterns: one for the mandala and one to square it off.  I may just be a teense bit impartial to mandalas (see my crochet manual board).

I did make some minor changes to the pattern in order to end up with a square that fit my blanket.

On the Daisy Mandala pattern:

Row 7: change the 5dc around to 7HDC in ea ch3 space

omit the rest of the rounds 8-11

To square off, follow the original pattern with these changes:

Round 1: ch2 instead of ch3

Round 2: do 2 stitches in the corners instead of 3

Round 3:  same but ch2 instead of 3 around

Round 4: beginning at the corner, *2dc ch2 2dc, in each of next spaces: 2dc, 2hdc, 2sc, 2sc, slst in next sc and ch space (for a total of 11 slip stitches), 2sc, 2sc, 2hdc, 2dc, repeat from * around and slst to finish off.

I will definitely be making a beautiful mandala from Zelna's pattern soon.

granny blanket : sadie square

Happy Monday!

We are just returning from our beach vacation in Maine: sun, sand, waves, and of course, lobster!  It was so nice to get away from life at home and spend long, lazy days on the beach.

WEEK TWENTY NINE || Sadie's Square
by Melissa Green
This was a fun one to hook up.  I love the denseness of the popcorn stitches and the overlay texture of the double treble crochet stitch.

granny blanket : the plan

I was feeling a bit guilty about not keeping up with my #12inchgrannyblanket posts, that I decided to share the plan for the rest of the year (for those of you who might be hooking along with us).

All of the patterns below can be found on Ravelry, and although they are not clickable links, they are all searchable by name or can be found in my Ravelry favorites under the "12" tag.

While I have every intention of continuing to post each week's finished square here on the blog, I wanted you to be able to crochet along in case life's busy-ness gets in the way.

granny blanket : 3 squares

Good Monday Morning!
My apologies for being absent around here the past couple of weeks.
I was taking an amazing course in Executive Functioning and was wrapped up in assignments, readings, and of course Pinterest browsing.
But I am back to crochet and we have 3 whole squares to catch up on.  Yikes!

WEEK TWENTY SIX || Starburst Flower
by Smooth Fox (Donna Mason-Svara)

WEEK TWENTY SEVEN || I Love the USA

In honor of Independence Day last week.

Which brings us to this week's square (and on time, too!):

WEEK TWENTY EIGHT || Flowers and Trebles
by Champygirl (Amelia Beebe)
I adore the center of this square.

The original pattern is for an 8" square, so I added a round of 1dc, 1ch, followed by a round of 1dc in each dc and space.  For both rounds I did 2dc, ch2, 2dc in each corner space.
